Frequently Asked Questions

ELECTRONIC CIGARATTES

An Electronic cigarette (e-cig) is a portable, battery-powered device that simulates smoking by vaporizing E-liquid (containing PG and/or VG) and flavouring yet still delivering nicotine (nicotine levels can vary, down to 0 mg, depending on what the user wants), but without the other 3,999+ chemicals hidden in cigarettes. It generates a smoke-like vapour and provides the same hand-to-mouth, inhalation experience as smoking. It has been shown to reduce cravings among smokers, not just for nicotine, but also for the relaxation, associated with inhaling and exhaling vapour.
All e-cigarettes operate on a fairly simple principle: A liquid is converted to a vapour through the process of heating it. A battery sends an electric current to a wad of liquid-soaked wicking material that is tightly wrapped with a metal coil. Sending current to the coil causes the coil to heat up, much like a burner on an electric stove. Once the coil becomes hot enough, the liquid that is in contact with the coil also begins to heat up, eventually to the point the liquid becomes converted to a vapour. This vapour is then puffed or inhaled from the device. Because e-cigarette users are inhaling a vapour and not smoke, they often refer to themselves “vapers” to distinguish themselves from tobacco cigarette users. E-cigarettes come in all shapes and sizes and can be roughly categorized according to their simplicity, flexibility, and capacity. Another important distinction between devices is whether they are a closed or open system. Closed system devices cannot be modified by the user. The battery, coil, and chamber holding the fluid are self-contained. The only flexibility is being able to switch fluid cartridges to change flavour or nicotine strength. In contrast, all aspects of open system devices can potentially be changed to suit the user.
If you’re an adult smoker then the answer is yes. Non-smokers should not take up nicotine in any form. The addictiveness of nicotine as provided by vaping devices is as yet not fully understood, but it should be assumed that it does have the potential to cause dependence.
The costs of electronic cigarettes vary depending on the type. Most beginner kits range from £20-£30, intermediate kits usually cost between £40 and £60 and advanced kits costs £60 upwards. In terms of the maintenance cost, this is relatively low as the only items that need to be purchased in the short-term are atomizer heads (if you have a replaceable clearomizer/tank) and e-liquid. Typically, atomizer heads or coils as they are sometimes referred to, last approximately two weeks. This is all dependent on frequency of use and the battery voltage. The higher the voltage the less the lifespan of the atomizer head will be.
We recommend that you purchase one of our kits that come complete with everything you need to get started. In addition, we recommend that you purchase extra e-liquid with your kit to ensure that you have sufficient supplies.

E-LIQUIDS

All E-Liquid consists of Vegetable Glycerine, Propylene Glycol, flavourings, nicotine and in some cases a colouring Some Juices are 100% VG which means they contain no Propylene Glycol. Max VG does not necessarily mean there is no Propylene Glycol (PG) in the Juice. This means that the juice has a very high VG content. Propylene Glycol (PG): – Propylene Glycol is high quality pharmaceutical grade, in combination with the nicotine and flavours this gives you more of a throat hit. Vegetable Glycerine (VG): – Glycerine helps to produce more vapour and holds more flavour. Please note: If you are ever unsure of these ingredients or suffer from allergies, please contact your Doctor. For a full Ingredients list of any particular flavour please email us and we will be happy to supply. Be aware that some of our products do contain traces of nuts. In case of an accident, or if you do feel unwell, seek medical advice immediately. Is nicotine harmful? There is much debate about nicotine, but on its own nicotine has never been shown to be harmful. Much of the negativity surrounding nicotine stems from its combination with tobacco cigarettes.

There is no one-size fits all answer here, so the best thing you can do is to try out a few e-liquids and see which one suits you. Interestingly, don’t assume that you need an authentic tobacco flavour. There are some good ones out there, but we find that the vast majority of vapers end up choosing a flavour other than tobacco, and this happens very quickly if they try a few different ones to begin with. In terms of PG/VG, you’ll have to try for yourself and decide what you like.

This is, in a way, the trickiest question of all because ultimately it’s a personal preference. You need to try out vaping to see what you like. Some vapers simply prefer a stronger nicotine e-liquid but on a lower powered device, whereas others prefer less nicotine but on a more powerful device. And some people are somewhere in the middle! Also, vapers differ in how much nicotine they need, and how much they want to vape overall. So, if you want to vape less, use a stronger e-liquid, if you find you’re getting too much nicotine from the amount you like to vape, move to a less strong liquid.

CLEAROMIZERS / TANKS / COILS

Atomizer refers to the atomizer head that is in all clearomizers and tanks. The atomizer head refers to the element, which is heated when the battery is activated and this is responsible for producing the vapour. Typically atomizer heads last for about two weeks, but this is not the case all the time. As they are very fragile they can stop working after a few days if they are used excessively or if the wattage is too high. All atomizers have a Dead on Arrival warranty, this means that as soon as you receive the product you need to test it to see if it works, as soon as it works the warranty period ends. Atomizer heads are referred to as disposable goods and are not meant to last longer than a few weeks. The majority of clearomziers/tanks we sell are replaceable units; this means that the only part that needs to be changed within the unit is the atomizer head. You can tell if the atomizer head needs to be replaced when there is a significant lack of vapour or if you get a burning almost smoky taste.
This could be for a few reasons, it could be that the coil is flooding due to over priming, firing at an insufficient wattage or a burnt coil. If your atomiser head is burnt/deteriorated, it is unable to further saturate e-liquid; causing leakage. You will need to replace your atomiser head in order to resolve the leakage.
Yes you can, but it is recommended that you clean the clearomizer/tank meticulously to remove the former flavour. After a few vapes, the former flavour should disappear. If it does not, the coil may be compromised.

Unless you are specifically using a sub ohm device, this typically comes down to personal preference. Below is a summary of pros and cons for using high or low resistance coils.
Low resistance coils
· More vapour produced
· Warmer vapour
· Potentially more intense flavour
· Drains battery quicker
· Increased likelihood of dry hits
· Uses more e-liquid per puff
High resistance coils
· Less vapour produced
· Cooler vapour
· Potentially more intense flavour
· Drains battery slower
· Less chance of dry hits
· Uses less e-liquid per puff

E-cigarette coils are available in a variety of resistances which can be found printed on the packaging and typically on the coil itself. These are indicated by a number followed by the word “ohms” or the symbol “Ω” – for example 0.5 ohms or 0.5 Ω.

Coil resistance is measured in “ohms” which essentially indicates how quickly electricity is able to travel through something. In short, the lower the coil resistance, the easier it is for electricity from your battery to travel through the coil. How does the coil resistance affect my e-cigarette? Essentially, the lower the coil resistance the quicker the coil will heat up, creating more vapour and typically a warmer hit. A higher coil resistance will take longer for the coil to heat up, producing less vapour and typically a cooler hit.

BATTERIES

If your battery is not charging it may be due to a number of different factors. Firstly, ensure that the charger you are using is the correct charger for the battery. Next, make sure that you are charging the battery the correct way. Some batteries are charged via the top connection (510 charger), others charged from the bottom via a micro USB. Mods that take external batteries require an external charger for the battery cells, although some also have a micro-usb port.

Make sure that your battery is charged significantly before using it. The batteries we send out do have a charge in them but it is possible that a battery can have lost its charge.
Different devices have different methods to turn the battery on. The most common ways to turn the battery on are as follows:
Click the power button rapidly three times
Click the power button rapidly five times

Below are averages for different size batteries, these approximations refer to continuous use (non-stop vaping).
1000mAh battery: 3-5 hours
1600mAh battery: 5-9 hours
Note:
Above approximations are for a fixed voltage of 4volts, turning the voltage higher will give less battery time.
