- The all-rounder is the XROS 5 Mini. It has the biggest battery in the Mini line at 1500mAh, takes both COREX 2.0 and COREX 3.0 pods, and charges in under an hour.
- The most capable is the XROS Pro, with a screen, 5W to 30W of adjustable power and the 0.4Ω pod that no XROS except the 4, the 4 Mini and the 5 Mini can run properly.
- The cheapest way in is the original XROS Mini or the XROS 3 Mini, both currently reduced and both still perfectly good daily devices.
- Pods matter more than the body. Every kit here uses the same COREX 2.0 family, and the newer COREX 3.0 pods drop into all of them.
- Start at 0.8Ω with a 50/50 nic salt. That combination suits ex-smokers, gives a cigarette-like draw and makes a pod last the longest.
Why the XROS range still leads
The XROS has been the default recommendation in UK vape shops for years, and it has stayed there by not changing much. Vaporesso refines the same idea each generation rather than reinventing it: a slim aluminium body, a 2ml top-fill pod, an adjustable airflow slider, USB-C charging and a choice of inhaling on it or pressing a button. There is no menu to learn and nothing to set up beyond filling the pod.
The bigger reason it leads is compatibility. A pod bought for an XROS Mini in 2022 still fits an XROS 5 Mini today, and the newer COREX 3.0 pods work in the older bodies too. That means upgrading the device does not strand your spare pods, and it means a four-pack you buy now will not be obsolete next year. Very few pod systems can say that.
It is also the sensible landing spot for anyone who used to buy single-use devices, which are no longer sold in the UK. A prefilled pod kit is the other legal route, but the XROS gives you the full run of 10ml bottles instead of a fixed flavour list.
The XROS kits we currently stock
This is the live range on the Vaporesso brand page. Everything below is in stock and can go straight in a basket; the older Nano editions are no longer carried.
Vaporesso XROS 5 Mini, the one to buy
The XROS 5 Mini is the best balance of battery, size and price in the range. It carries 1500mAh, which is 50 percent more than every other Mini, and 2A USB-C charging refills it in under an hour. It ships with a 0.6Ω COREX 2.0 pod suited to 50/50 liquid, and a 0.4Ω pod is available separately for anyone who wants a looser, warmer restricted direct-to-lung draw with a higher VG bottle.
It is inhale activated with an LED battery indicator, the airflow slider covers tight mouth-to-lung through to RDTL, and pod auto-detection sets the power for whichever resistance you fit. If you only want one recommendation from this page, this is it.
Battery: 1500mAh. Pod: 2ml top-fill. Coils: 0.6Ω COREX 2.0 mesh included, 0.4Ω available separately. Charging: USB-C 2A.
Vaporesso XROS Pro, the one with the screen
The Pro is the only XROS with a proper OLED display and manual wattage control, running from 5W up to 30W with Eco, Normal and Power modes and a puff counter. It comes with two 0.4Ω mesh pods, which are specific to the Pro, and it takes the whole 0.6Ω to 1.2Ω COREX family as well as COREX 3.0.
Buy it if you want to move between a tight MTL draw in the morning and something closer to direct-to-lung in the evening, or if you simply want to see the battery percentage rather than guess from a light. The 1200mAh cell charges fully in about 35 minutes. It is the largest and heaviest XROS, so it is less of a pocket device than the Minis.
Battery: 1200mAh, 5W to 30W. Pod: 2ml top-fill. Coils: 2 x 0.4Ω included, 0.6Ω to 1.2Ω compatible. Charging: USB-C 2A.

Vaporesso XROS 4 Mini and XROS 4
The XROS 4 Mini is the compact aluminium model that introduced the 0.4Ω pod to the Mini body. It holds 1000mAh, charges in about 30 minutes, tops out at 16W and detects the fitted coil to pick its own power. It is button-fired or inhale activated and handles MTL and RDTL equally well. The full-size XROS 4 is the same generation in a larger shell with a bigger airflow range if you prefer something with more presence in the hand.
One caveat worth knowing: the 4 Mini takes every XROS pod except the Pro-specific ones. Use 50/50 or higher PG liquid in the 0.6Ω and above pods; a thicker 70/30 shortfill belongs only in the 0.4Ω pod, and putting it in a tighter pod gives dry hits.
Battery: 1000mAh, up to 16W. Pod: 2ml top-fill. Coils: 0.4Ω to 1.2Ω, COREX 3.0 compatible. Charging: USB-C, about 30 minutes.
Vaporesso XROS Mini and XROS 3 Mini, the budget picks
The original XROS Mini is still on the site and still does the job. A 1000mAh battery, a full charge in around 45 minutes, adjustable airflow, top fill, auto-draw and button firing, and a leak-resistant pod. There are no settings to get wrong, which is exactly why it keeps getting recommended to people who have just stopped smoking.
The XROS 3 Mini is the same size with a refined airflow ring and a cleaner finish, and the full-size XROS 3 adds a slightly wider draw. All three are older generations now, and all three take the current COREX pods. If you want a second device for the car or a spare for the drawer, buy one of these rather than a second flagship.
Battery: 1000mAh. Pod: 2ml top-fill. Coils: 1.2Ω included with the XROS Mini, 0.6Ω with the XROS 3 Mini, 0.6Ω and 1.0Ω with the XROS 3. Charging: USB-C, 30 to 45 minutes.
XROS kits compared side by side
The bodies differ in three things that matter: how much battery they hold, whether you can set the power yourself, and whether they can run the 0.4Ω pod at full output. Everything else is close enough not to sway a decision.
| Kit | Battery | Power | Runs 0.4Ω | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| XROS 5 Mini | 1500mAh | Auto-detect | Yes, pod sold separately | Best all-rounder, longest runtime |
| XROS Pro | 1200mAh | 5W to 30W, OLED screen | Yes, two included | Control, MTL through to DTL |
| XROS 4 | 1000mAh | Three power levels | Yes | Larger body, wider airflow |
| XROS 4 Mini | 1000mAh | Auto-detect, up to 16W | Yes, included | Pocket size with the newer pod |
| XROS 3 | 1000mAh | Auto-detect | No | Full-size body on older pricing |
| XROS 3 Mini | 1000mAh | Auto-detect | No | Compact daily driver, good value |
| XROS Mini | 1000mAh | Auto-detect | No | Simplest and cheapest way in |
Every kit above uses the same 2ml refillable top-fill pod and USB-C charging. See the full pod kits category if you want to compare the XROS against other brands.
COREX 2.0 and COREX 3.0 pods explained
COREX is Vaporesso’s mesh coil design, and it is the part of the kit that decides how the vape actually tastes. The pod is the coil in this system, so you are replacing both together every time.
COREX 2.0 pods are the workhorse. They come in five resistances, they use Vaporesso’s SSS leak-resistant sealing, and they are the pods most XROS kits ship with. Four to a pack, and one pod will typically run through several tank fills before the flavour starts to fade.
COREX 3.0 pods refine the mesh structure and the internal airflow path. In practice that means a slightly richer flavour, a smoother inhale and better consistency from the first fill to the last. They fit every XROS body in this guide, so you can upgrade the pods without touching the device. If you are happy with your current kit but feel the flavour has gone flat, this is the cheaper fix.

Keep a spare pack in the drawer either way. Running a pod past the point where it tastes burnt is the single most common reason people decide a kit is no good, and it is almost always the pod rather than the device.
Choosing the right pod resistance
This is where most people get stuck, and it is simpler than it looks. The resistance number sets how tight the draw feels, how warm the vapour is and how much liquid you get through. Higher numbers give a tighter, cooler, more cigarette-like draw. Lower numbers give a looser, warmer, more vapour-heavy one.
| Pod | Best around | Draw | Suits |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1.2Ω | 10W | Tightest MTL | New switchers on 20mg nic salt |
| 1.0Ω | 12W | Tight MTL | High strength, low liquid use |
| 0.8Ω | 16W | Balanced MTL | Start here if you are unsure |
| 0.6Ω | 21W | Loose MTL to RDTL | 10mg salts, more vapour |
| 0.4Ω | 25W | RDTL | XROS Pro, 4 and 4 Mini only |
If you are coming off cigarettes and want that familiar tight pull, start at 0.8Ω or 1.0Ω and pair it with a 10mg or 20mg nic salt. If you already vape and want more vapour, go to 0.6Ω and drop the strength. Our guide to how much nicotine you should vape covers the strength side.
Compatibility matters more than you think
Every XROS pod physically fits every XROS body, which is the source of the confusion. Fitting and performing are two different things. The 0.4Ω pod wants more power than the older bodies can give it, and only the XROS Pro, XROS 4, XROS 4 Mini and XROS 5 Mini drive it properly. Put one in an XROS 3 Mini and it will fire, but it will feel weak and it will chew through battery.
The other compatibility question we get asked is about liquid. A 2ml pod with a 0.8Ω or 1.0Ω coil wants 50/50 PG/VG, which means a 10ml nic salt or a standard 50/50 10ml bottle. Thick 70/30 shortfills belong in the 0.4Ω pod or a sub-ohm tank, not in a tight MTL pod. If you have been reading about prefilled options, the rules are different again and covered in our prefilled pod e-liquid compatibility guide.
Setting up a new XROS properly
Five minutes here saves you a burnt pod. The process is the same whichever model you have chosen.
- 1
Charge it fully first. USB-C gets you there in 30 to 60 minutes depending on the model. Vaping a device straight out of the box on a part-charged battery gives a weak first impression that is not the device’s fault.
- 2
Prime the pod. Put two or three drops of liquid directly onto the exposed mesh before you fill it. This wets the cotton where it matters most.
- 3
Fill through the top port and tilt the bottle. Angle the pod so air can escape as liquid goes in, and stop just short of the fill line. Overfilling is what causes most gurgling.
- 4
Leave it ten minutes. Fit the pod and wait before the first puff so the cotton soaks through. Skipping this step is the fastest way to ruin a brand new pod.
- 5
Set the airflow, then leave it alone. Slide it closed for a tight cigarette-style draw, open it a little at a time until it feels right. Take slower, longer pulls than you would on a cigarette.
What it costs to run
An XROS is cheap to own once you have bought the body. Your ongoing spend is liquid plus a four-pack of pods every few weeks. There is no separate coil and tank to buy and no battery to replace.
From 1 October 2026 Vaping Products Duty adds £2.20 per 10ml plus VAT to every bottle of e-liquid, so £2.64 per 10ml at the till. Stock held before that date can be sold at pre-duty prices until 31 March 2027. A tight 1.0Ω or 1.2Ω pod uses noticeably less liquid than a 0.4Ω one, so if running cost is your priority, the higher resistance is the cheaper habit as well as the more cigarette-like one.

So which XROS should you buy?
There is no single right answer, but there is a right answer for you, and it comes down to three profiles.
If you are cross-shopping outside the range, the XROS 4 goes head to head with Uwell’s popular alternative in our Caliburn G3 vs XROS 4 comparison. If you would rather not refill at all, weigh the XROS against 4-in-1 and standard prefilled pod kits before you decide.

Quick answers
The 0.8Ω pod. It gives a balanced mouth-to-lung draw that suits most people, works in every XROS body and does not get through liquid quickly. Move to 1.0Ω if you want it tighter still.
Yes, slightly. The refined mesh and airflow give a richer flavour and a smoother inhale, and they hold that consistency for longer. They fit every XROS kit we stock, so you can switch without changing device.
A 1000mAh model comfortably covers a day of regular use. The XROS 5 Mini at 1500mAh will stretch into a second day for lighter vapers. All of them charge over USB-C in roughly 30 to 60 minutes.
They all fit, but the 0.4Ω pod only performs properly on the XROS Pro, XROS 4 and XROS 4 Mini, and the XROS 5 Mini with the separate 0.4Ω pod. The older Minis cannot supply the power it needs.
A 50/50 PG/VG bottle, either a 10ml nic salt or a standard 10ml. UK law caps nicotine-containing bottles at 10ml and 20mg/ml. Save 70/30 shortfills for the 0.4Ω pod or a sub-ohm tank.
The XROS 5 Mini. It has the largest battery in the range, takes both pod generations, still refills over USB-C in under an hour and stays small enough for a pocket.
