Best Vape Kits in the UK: Refillable, Prefilled and Pod Kits Compared

Buying guide

Eight kits we actually stock, split into refillable pods, prefilled pods and mods, with the specs that matter, who each one suits and a comparison table so you can pick in a few minutes rather than an evening.

Vaporesso Xros 4 Mini refillable pod kit, one of the best vape kits in the UK

Only got a minute?
  • Best all-rounder: Vaporesso Xros 4 Mini. 1000mAh, 2ml top-fill pods, takes 0.4Ω to 1.2Ω coils and charges in about 30 minutes. Hard to beat for a first refillable.
  • Best if you want a bit more control: OXVA Xlim Pro 2. 1300mAh, 5W to 30W, adjustable airflow and two mesh pods in the box.
  • Best prefilled kits: Lost Mary BM6000 and Hayati Pro Ultra Plus 25000. No filling, prefilled 2ml pods, nic salt up to 20mg and high puff ratings.
  • Best mod-style kits: Voopoo Drag E60 and Innokin Coolfire Z80. 60W and 80W maximums, and coils down to 0.1Ω for direct-to-lung clouds. The E60 has a built-in 2550mAh cell; the Z80 takes a removable 18650 you buy separately.
  • Disposables are gone. Single-use vapes have been banned in the UK since 1 June 2025, so every kit here is rechargeable and either refillable or takes replacement pods.

What counts as a vape kit now

A vape kit is a device plus everything you need to start using it. Since disposables were banned in the UK on 1 June 2025, that means one of three things: a refillable pod kit you fill with your own 10ml e-liquid, a prefilled pod kit where the liquid comes in the pod and you swap the pod when it runs dry, or a mod kit with a tank, coils and a lot more power.

This guide covers eight kits across all three types, each one picked from what we sell and stock today, rather than just the prefilled big-puff devices that get most of the attention.

Refillable pod kit
Small, buttonless or one button, 2ml pods you fill yourself with 50/50 e-liquid. Lowest running cost.
Prefilled pod kit
Rechargeable battery, pods arrive full of 20mg nic salt. Closest feel to a disposable.
Mod kit
Adjustable wattage, bigger battery, sub-ohm coils and shortfill liquid. For clouds and flavour, not for pockets.

How we picked these eight

Every kit below is on our shelves and every spec is taken from the product page, not a press release. We looked for four things: a battery that gets a normal user through a working day, a pod or tank that doesn’t leak in a pocket, coils that are easy to buy again in six months, and a draw that suits the liquid it’s built for. A pod kit that’s brilliant with 20mg salts but useless with a shortfill is still a brilliant pod kit, as long as you know that going in.

If you’re still working out which type is for you, our guide to choosing the right vape kit covers inhale style, nicotine strength and budget in more depth. The short version: tight draw and high nicotine means a pod kit, loose airy draw and low nicotine means a mod.

Best refillable pod kits

These are the kits we’d hand to most people. You buy a 10ml bottle of nic salt or freebase liquid, fill a 2ml pod, and swap the pod every week or two. Running costs are a fraction of prefilled pods, which matters more once the vape duty lands.

Vaporesso Xros 4 Mini

The Xros range has been the default recommendation for refillable pods for years and the 4 Mini is the one to buy. It fires by button or by inhaling, runs Vaporesso’s Smart Mode so it sets power to match the pod you click in, and has an airflow slider that takes it from a tight cigarette-style draw to a restricted lung hit. The aluminium body is tough enough to live in a jeans pocket. It’s compatible with every Xros Corex pod except the Pro, so you’ll never be stuck hunting for the right one.

1000mAh battery, 2ml top-fill pod, 0.4Ω to 1.2Ω coils, 16W max, USB-C charge in about 30 minutes. Best with 10mg to 20mg nic salts on the 0.8Ω or higher pods.

OXVA Xlim Pro 2

OXVA Xlim Pro 2 refillable pod vape kit

If the Xros feels a touch too simple, the Xlim Pro 2 is the step up without becoming a mod. You get a wattage range instead of a fixed output, a screen, and a side airflow slider that opens far enough for a proper restricted direct-to-lung draw. Two mesh pods come in the box, a 0.6Ω for warmer, denser vapour and a 0.8Ω for a tighter MTL pull, and it takes the older Xlim V2 and Xlim EZ pods too. The 1300mAh cell is a full day for most people.

1300mAh battery, 2ml top-fill pod, 0.6Ω and 0.8Ω mesh pods included, 5W to 30W, USB-C. Suits 10mg salts on the 0.6Ω and up to 20mg on the 0.8Ω.

Uwell Caliburn A3S

The cheapest kit here to run and the simplest to live with. No button, no menu, no settings: fill it from the side, inhale, done. The 520mAh battery is smaller than the two above, but at a fixed 16W it sips power and the 2A USB-C charge refills it quickly. Uwell’s coils are known for lasting well, and the pods come in 0.8Ω and 1.0Ω so you can run 20mg salts all day without it feeling harsh. It wants liquid that’s at least 50/50, which describes nearly every 10ml on the site.

520mAh battery, 2ml side-fill pod, 0.8Ω and 1.0Ω mesh pods included, 16W fixed, USB-C 2A. Ideal first kit for a smoker moving straight to 20mg.

Innokin Endura S1

Innokin built the Endura S1 for people who liked the shape and feel of a disposable but want to stop throwing them away. It’s a slim pen with a satin finish, a 650mAh battery and a single 2ml refillable pod with a 0.8Ω mesh coil that Innokin rates at up to 7000 puffs. There’s nothing to adjust: 3.7V constant output, inhale to fire. If someone in your life is still mourning the disposable ban, this is the kit to put in their hand.

650mAh battery, 2ml refillable pod, 0.8Ω mesh coil, 3.7V constant, USB-C (cable not included). Built for 50/50 nic salts at 10mg to 20mg.

Best prefilled pod kits

Prefilled kits are the legal successor to the disposable. The battery is rechargeable and reusable, the prefilled 2ml pod arrives full of nic salt, and the current generation carries much higher puff ratings than the old 600-puff devices. They cost more per ml than refilling, but there’s zero learning curve.

Lost Mary BM6000

The BM6000 is the prefilled kit we’d recommend first, mostly because Lost Mary’s flavour range is one of the widest in the category, with over 40 MaryLiq flavours listed. It is a 1000mAh kit that takes one prefilled 2ml pod, rated at 6,000 puffs, with no mess. There’s a battery LED and a clear liquid window, it’s draw-activated, and USB-C fast charging gets it back to full quickly. Strengths run 0mg, 10mg and 20mg.

1000mAh battery, prefilled 2ml pod, QUAQ mesh coil, 0mg, 10mg or 20mg, USB-C. Rated at 6,000 puffs.

Hayati Pro Ultra Plus 25000

Hayati Pro Ultra Plus 25000 prefilled pod vape kit

This is the big one. It uses the prefilled 2ml pod format and is rated at 25,000 puffs. Mesh coils keep the vapour dense, and a display screen shows battery and liquid levels so you’re never caught out. It’s larger than the BM6000 and it’s 20mg only, but for a heavy vaper who wants to buy once a month rather than once a week, nothing else here goes as far.

850mAh battery, prefilled 2ml pod format, mesh coils, 20mg nic salt, USB-C fast charge, screen. Rated at 25,000 puffs.

Best mod-style kits

Mods are for people who vape 3mg to 6mg shortfill liquid, want a warm airy direct-to-lung draw, and don’t mind a device the size of a small torch. They’re also the cheapest way to vape per ml once you’re buying 100ml bottles, which is worth remembering with the duty coming.

Voopoo Drag E60

Voopoo Drag E60 pod mod kit with a PnP 2 pod

Technically a pod mod, in practice the easiest way into sub-ohm vaping. The Drag E60 pairs a 2550mAh internal battery with Voopoo’s GENE.TT 2.0 chip, an OLED screen and a 2ml XL PnP 2 pod that fills from the side with a quarter-turn cap. Two coils come in the box, a 0.2Ω and a 0.3Ω, and it accepts the entire PnP coil range from 0.1Ω to 3Ω, so you can run it as a tight MTL device one week and a cloud machine the next. Smart mode caps the wattage to whatever coil you fit, which saves a lot of burnt cotton.

2550mAh battery, 2ml side-fill pod, 0.2Ω and 0.3Ω PnP coils included (0.1Ω to 3Ω supported), 5W to 60W, USB-C. Made for 70/30 shortfills at 3mg to 6mg.

Innokin Coolfire Z80

A proper single-battery box mod with a 510 connection, so you choose the tank. The Z80 is a zinc-alloy brick that shrugs off drops, fires in 0.003 seconds and runs from 6W to 80W on a removable 18650 cell that you charge through USB-C or swap for a spare. The resistance range of 0.1Ω to 3.5Ω means it’ll drive anything from a tight MTL tank to a full sub-ohm setup. Buy it as a mod only if you already own a tank you love; otherwise look at the bundled kits in our advanced section where the tank comes in the box.

Single 18650 (battery and tank not included), 6W to 80W, 0.1Ω to 3.5Ω, 510 thread, USB-C. Pair with any MTL or sub-ohm tank.

How to choose in four steps

  1. 1
Start with nicotine. Coming off 15 or more cigarettes a day, you want 18mg to 20mg nic salt, which means a pod kit with coils of 0.8Ω or higher. Under ten a day, 10mg is usually enough. If you only want 3mg to 6mg, a mod with shortfills makes sense.
  2. 2
Decide how much effort you’ll put in. None at all: prefilled pod kit. Filling a pod once a day: refillable pod. Changing coils, priming cotton and mixing nic shots: mod.
  3. 3
Match the battery to your day. A 520mAh cell is fine if you can charge at your desk. Out and about from morning to night, go for 1000mAh or more, or a mod with a swappable 18650.
  4. 4
Check the running cost before the duty. From 1 October 2026 every 10ml of liquid, prefilled pods included, carries £2.20 duty plus VAT. Refillable kits with 10ml bottles or shortfills give you the most control over that. Our vape tax explainer has the full numbers.

Quick answers

What is the best vape kit in the UK for a beginner?

A refillable pod kit with 0.8Ω or higher pods and a 10ml bottle of nic salt. The Vaporesso Xros 4 Mini and Uwell Caliburn A3S are the two we’d point to first. If you’d rather not fill anything, the Lost Mary BM6000 is the prefilled equivalent.

Are prefilled pod kits the same as disposables?

No. Disposables were banned in the UK from 1 June 2025. A prefilled pod kit has a rechargeable battery you keep and a pod you replace, which is what makes it legal to sell. The vaping experience is very similar.

Can I use shortfill e-liquid in a pod kit?

Only in a pod designed for it, such as the Drag E60 with a 0.2Ω or 0.3Ω coil. Standard 0.8Ω and 1.0Ω pods are built for 50/50 liquid and will burn out quickly on a 70/30 shortfill.

Which kit is cheapest to run long term?

A refillable pod kit filled from 10ml bottles, or a mod running shortfills if you vape a lot. Prefilled pods are the most expensive per ml. The £2.20 per 10ml duty from 1 October 2026 applies to both at the same rate per ml.

Do I need a mod to get good flavour?

Not any more. Mesh coils in modern pods, like the ones in the Xlim Pro 2 and Xros 4 Mini, deliver flavour that would have needed a tank five years ago. A mod gives you more vapour and warmth, not necessarily better taste.
