Uwell Caliburn G3 Review: Features, Performance and Value

Kit review

The Caliburn G3 is a small refillable pod kit with a screen, adjustable power and two pods in the box. Here’s what it does well, where it falls short and how to set it up so it vapes properly from the first fill.

Uwell Caliburn G3 pod kit with its refillable pod

Only got a minute?
  • It’s a refillable pod kit, not a prefilled one. You fill 2ml pods with your own 10ml e-liquid or nic salt, so flavour choice is wide open.
  • Two pods come in the box. A 0.9 ohm pod for a tighter mouth-to-lung draw and a 0.6 ohm pod for a looser restricted lung draw.
  • More control than most small kits. 5W to 25W adjustable output, an OLED screen, dual airflow, and a choice of button or draw activation.
  • The coil is built into the pod. When flavour fades you swap the whole pod; there is no separate coil to change.
  • Best for: a vaper who wants a simple daily kit today but likes the option to tweak power and draw later.

The Caliburn G3 in brief

The Uwell Caliburn G3 Pod Kit 900mAh sits in the middle of the Caliburn range. It is slim and light enough to live in a pocket, but unlike the most basic draw-activated pods it gives you a screen and a power setting you can actually change. Uwell describes it as low maintenance and suitable for beginners and experienced vapers alike, and that is a fair summary of how it behaves.

It is a refillable system. Each pod holds 2ml, which is the UK legal maximum for a pod or tank, and you top it up from a bottle of your choice. That matters because since single-use disposables were banned in the UK on 1 June 2025, a lot of people have moved to either a refillable pod kit like this one or a prefilled pod kit. The G3 is firmly in the first camp: more hands-on, much more flavour choice.

If you are still choosing between this and Vaporesso’s rival, we have a separate head-to-head on the Caliburn G3 vs Xros 4. This page is the single-device review.

Design, screen and everyday handling

The G3 is a flat, slim stick that sits comfortably in the hand and slides into a jeans pocket without fuss. The lanyard in the box is handy if you would rather wear it than hunt for it. The pod window lets you see the liquid level at a glance, so you are not guessing when a refill is due.

The small OLED screen is the feature that separates it from basic pods. It shows the power setting and battery level, which takes the guesswork out of two common problems: running out of charge mid-afternoon without warning, and not knowing what wattage you are vaping at. A single button handles power changes and the lock, so there is not much to learn.

You can fire it either by pressing the button or simply by drawing on it. Draw activation feels closest to a normal puff and suits anyone who does not want to think about the device at all. Button firing gives a little more control over how long each puff heats, which some vapers prefer on the 0.6 ohm pod. The lock function stops it firing in a bag, which is worth using if it travels in a pocket with keys.

The two pods and how they vape

Having both pods in the box is the G3’s biggest practical advantage. You can try each style before deciding which one to buy in multipacks.

0.9 ohm pod
A tighter mouth-to-lung draw, like drawing into your mouth first and then inhaling. Suits nic salts and 50/50 10ml liquid at modest power, and is the easier pod to live with for all-day use.
0.6 ohm pod
A looser restricted lung draw with more vapour and warmer flavour. It runs at higher power, uses liquid faster and pairs best with lower nicotine strengths.

As a starting point, run the 0.9 ohm pod somewhere around 12W to 16W and the 0.6 ohm pod around 18W to 25W, then adjust by taste. If the flavour tastes thin, go up a watt or two; if it tastes hot or harsh, come down. The dual airflow lets you tighten or loosen the draw on either pod.

On the pod side, the coil is built in. Our replacement pod listing describes integrated, non-replaceable mesh coils, so when the flavour dulls or turns burnt you replace the whole pod. The 4-pack is also available in other resistances, including 1.2 ohm for an even tighter draw. If you are not sure when a pod is finished, our guide on when a pod or coil needs changing covers the signs. For most people, a pod coil lasts one to three weeks.

Setting it up in six steps

Most early complaints about any pod kit, from burnt first puffs to leaking, come from rushing the first fill. This takes about fifteen minutes including the soak.

  1. 1
Charge it first. Use the USB-C cable supplied with the kit, plugged into a standard low-output USB plug or a computer port. Avoid fast-charge bricks and do not leave it charging unattended overnight.
  2. 2
Pick your pod. Start with the 0.9 ohm pod if you want a tight draw and use nic salts; choose the 0.6 ohm pod if you prefer a looser, cloudier draw.
  3. 3
Fill the pod. The supplied pods fill through a side port; replacement pods may fill from the top. Aim the nozzle down the inside wall, stop below the top so there is a small air gap, and close the bung firmly.
  4. 4
Let it soak. Leave the filled pod for five to ten minutes so the cotton is fully wet before the coil heats.
  5. 5
Start low on power. Set the wattage at the bottom of the starting range for your pod and take a few gentle puffs before turning it up.
  6. 6
Adjust the airflow. Tighten it for a more cigarette-like draw, open it for more vapour. Lock the device when it goes in a pocket.

For more detail on the fill itself, see how to fill a pod kit correctly, and if a pod ever starts weeping at the base, our guide to stopping e-liquid leaks works through the causes.

Choosing e-liquid and strength

Uwell recommends 50% VG liquid for the G3, which lines up with how pod coils work. 50/50 suits MTL coils of 0.6 ohm and above, and both supplied pods sit in that range. That means almost any 10ml e-liquid or nic salt on our shelves will work. Thick 70/30 shortfills are made for sub-ohm tanks and tend to wick too slowly in a small pod, which leads to dry, burnt puffs. Our guide to PG/VG ratios explains why.

Nic salts give a smoother feel at the same strength, which is why they are popular in the 0.9 ohm pod. Freebase 10ml liquid gives a sharper throat hit. In the UK, nicotine bottles come in sizes up to 10ml and strengths up to 20mg/ml. The right strength depends on your habit, not the device, so use our guide to how much nicotine to vape to pick a starting point. On the looser 0.6 ohm pod, you draw more vapour per puff, so a lower strength than you would use in the 0.9 ohm pod usually feels about right.

Consumption is the other thing to plan for. A typical pod-kit vaper uses about 10ml to 15ml of e-liquid a week, so a 10ml bottle lasts three to seven days for an average user. From 1 October 2026, Vaping Products Duty adds £2.20 per 10ml (£2.64 with VAT) to every vaping liquid, at the same rate per ml on every format; our vape tax guide explains what that means. Pre-duty stock is on sale until 31 March 2027.

Strengths, weaknesses and who it suits

What it does well. Two pods in the box give you two vaping styles for one kit. The adjustable 5W to 25W output and screen mean you can fine-tune flavour rather than accept whatever a fixed-power pod gives you. The choice of button or draw firing, the lock and the dual airflow make it flexible without being complicated. Pods are widely compatible across the Caliburn family, so you are not tied to one pack.

Where it falls short. The 900mAh battery is solid for a kit this size, but heavy vapers on the 0.6 ohm pod at high power may need a top-up charge later in the day. Because the coil is built into the pod, each change means a whole new pod rather than a small coil head. And it is a refillable kit: you need to fill it every day or two and keep a bottle with you, which is more hands-on than clicking in a prefilled pod.

Who it suits. A new vaper who wants a simple daily kit but likes the idea of being able to tweak it later; an existing pod user moving up from a basic draw-activated device; and anyone who wants to use their own choice of 10ml liquids. If you want the simplest possible Caliburn with a bigger battery and no screen, read our Caliburn G3 Lite review. The G3 Lite has a 1200mAh battery and automatic power but no screen or manual wattage. If you like the idea of a Vaporesso instead, the Xros 4 Mini is the natural alternative, and our best pod kits for nic salts guide compares more options.

Quick answers

Does the Caliburn G3 use replaceable coils?

No. The coil is built into each pod, so you replace the pod when the flavour fades. The kit comes with a 0.6 ohm and a 0.9 ohm pod.

Which pods fit the Caliburn G3?

Caliburn G3 refillable pods and the Caliburn G3, G4 and G5 GPP replacement pods, according to our product listings.

Can I use nic salts in the Caliburn G3?

Yes. Nic salts and 50/50 10ml liquids suit both supplied pods, and the 0.9 ohm pod is the more natural match for nic salts.

What is the difference between the G3 and the G3 Lite?

The G3 has a 900mAh battery, OLED screen and adjustable 5W to 25W output. The G3 Lite has a larger 1200mAh battery with automatic power and no screen, and takes the same G3 pods.

How should I charge it?

With the USB-C cable supplied, plugged into a standard low-output USB plug or a computer port. Avoid fast-charge bricks and do not charge it unattended overnight.

Specifications are taken from our product listings and may change with manufacturer updates; wattage suggestions are starting points, so always check the rating on your pod and the manual. Product availability changes. For adult smokers and vapers aged 18+ only.
