If you’re still smoking in 2024, it’s easier than ever to stop when you consider the availability of smoking cessation tools like nicotine patches and vapes. But why bother? Read on for 10 reasons why you should make the switch from smoking to vaping.
1. You’ll save a lot of money
Switching to vaping is substantially cheaper than tobacco, which continues to rise in price, and the savings extend way beyond your personal finances.
The MHRA estimates that every person who successfully switches to vaping saves the NHS around £74,000. With approximately 6.6 million smokers in the UK, this could save the NHS over £550 billion, and it could certainly do with the money right now.
2. It tastes better
Menthol cigarettes are illegal now and e-cigs and vapes are available in just about every flavour you can imagine.
And for the most hardened smokers out there who are currently screaming, ‘But I like the way tobacco tastes!’, if you switch from smoking to vaping you can even get tobacco-flavoured e-liquids and vapes.
3. You’ll smell better
This one’s pretty self-explanatory. Even if you have no sense of smell, other people in your life might. Your clothes will smell better and so will your home if you switch to vaping.
4. Vaping damages the environment less than smoking
With vaping, you can buy a reusable device (and disposables are set to be banned in the UK next year), and you’re also producing chemicals that are far less damaging to the environment with every puff compared to smoking. Vaping devices do not burn materials, which means they do not release the harmful by-products of combustion, such as carbon monoxide and tar.
And what’s more, cigarette butts aren’t biodegradable, you know…! Although they do look great scattered all over the pavement outside your favourite pub.
5. Quitting cold turkey is VERY difficult for most people
According to Dr. Hays of the Mayo Clinic, there is a “long-standing misconception that the most effective method for quitting is to “white knuckle it” with willpower alone (a.k.a. quitting cold turkey).” He also says that “research over the past 25 years has shown that out of 100 people trying to quit smoking cold turkey, about three to five will succeed past six months. ”
If you want to beat those odds it’s far better to gradually stop smoking, or switch from smoking to vaping and then gradually lower the amount of vaping you’re doing if you want to give up nicotine completely (or switch to 0mg nicotine vapes).
6. It’s easier to cut down on nicotine when you switch from smoking to vaping
Because a major component of a smoking/vaping addiction involves the action itself, being able to buy vaping products with lower amounts of nicotine in them every two weeks or so until you get down to 0mg is a great way to gradually lower your intake while still bringing that device up to your mouth and inhaling.
7. You won’t risk starting a fire
According to the National Fire Chiefs Council, “More people die in fires in the home caused by cigarettes and smoking products than any other cause. In England in 2022/23, accidental fires in the home resulting from smoking materials made up 35 per cent of all fatalities in accidental fires the home (65 out of 185)”.
8. You won’t produce any second-hand smoke
Smoking is so bad that it damages people who happen to be in close proximity to you, as well. Switch from smoking to vaping and now you’re just producing a vapour that dissipates more quickly than cigarette smoke, reducing the exposure of harmful chemicals to those you love (and tolerate).
9. With vaping, there’s much more scope to customise your experience
From all the various e-liquid flavours that are available to adjusting nicotine strength and choosing/customising your device, vaping gives you a lot more options than smoking while — as previously stated — costing far less.
Vaping devices like vape kits offer various customisation options, including adjustable wattage and temperature settings, which can alter the intensity and temperature of the vapour. Different coils and resistances can also impact the flavour and vapour production. Additionally, users can select from a range of device styles, from compact and portable pods to advanced mod systems with extensive features. 10. Vaping is much better for you than smoking
Finally, maybe the most obvious point but there’s really no safe level of smoking when it comes to your health. Smoking causes AT LEAST 15 types of cancer. According to UK charity ‘Action on Smoking and Health,’ “Smoking is the leading cause of premature, preventable death globally. Tobacco kills up to half of its users, this equates to 8 million deaths a year globally.”
Even though a lot of vapes contain nicotine (although we do offer a huge selection of 0mg nicotine vapes) it’s all the other stuff you get from smoking tobacco which is really bad for your health. Public Health England reckons vaping is 95% safer than smoking, although it’s important to remember that we don’t have super long-term data about vaping yet.

Not sure which vape to start with. Any recommendations for beginners?
